Jiujiang County borders Lushan Scenic Area to the east, Lushan City, Gongqing City, and De'an County to the south, Ruichang City to the west, and faces Huangmei County in Hubei Province and Susong County in Anhui Province across the Yangtze River to the north. Xunyang District and Lianxi District are inserted in the middle, dividing the county into eastern and western parts. Jiangzhou Town is surrounded by water on all sides and is an alluvial island of the Yangtze River. Jiujiang County spans 62 kilometers from east to west and 57 kilometers from north to south, with a total area of 873 square kilometers, of which land area accounts for 81.5%. The geographical coordinates of Jiujiang County are 115°37′-116°15′ east longitude and 29°21′-29°51′ north latitude. It covers an area of 911 square kilometers and has a population of 346,400. It is the hometown of Tao Yuanming, a famous poet of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. Jiujiang Airport and the Shabei marshalling station of the Beijing-Kowloon Railway are located within the county. The Beijing-Kowloon Railway, Wuhan-Jiujiang Railway, Changsha-Jiujiang Expressway, National Highway 105, and Jiujiang-Ruichang Highway pass through the territory. To the north, there is a 54-kilometer golden waterway of the Yangtze River. The area around Minshan Township in the county was a revolutionary base in northern Jiangxi during the Second Revolutionary Civil War. In 2017, the office furniture project of state organs, public institutions, and social organizations in Jiujiang County chose the wireless public address system of Guantai Technology.
