　　Wuhan Optics Valley Biolake, also known as Wuhan National Bio-industry Base, is the second national-level industrial base constructed by Wuhan East Lake High-tech Zone after the National Optoelectronic Information Industry Base, approved by the National Development and Reform Commission in June 2007.

　　The core area of Biolake is located within the East Lake High-tech Zone, comprising four major industrial bases: the South Lake Agricultural Base, Guannan Pharmaceutical Base, Jiufeng Innovation Base, and Jiulong Industrial Base, covering an area of approximately 12 square kilometers. It is an industrial cluster that integrates bioproduct R&D, production, and distribution, with complete infrastructure, a well-established industrial chain, clear division of labor, and strong industrial competitiveness. The core area of Biolake is situated in the East Lake High-tech Zone, consisting of five parts: Guannan Pharmaceutical Base, South Lake Agricultural Base, Jiufeng Innovation Base, Jiulong Industrial Base, and Kaidi Energy Base. The focus is on developing Jiufeng Innovation Base and Jiulong Industrial Base, transforming them into a Biolake that serves as an administrative office, cultural, entertainment, R&D, and production center. By 2020, the high-tech zone aims to achieve bio-industry revenue exceeding 130 billion yuan, making it the second-largest pillar industry after optoelectronic information industry and another hundred-billion-yuan industry.
