China Root Art Expo Park, a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and national cultural industry demonstration base, is located in Kaihua County, the source of the Qiantang River, adjacent to Huangshan, Qiandao Lake, and Sanqing Mountain. Covering an area of over 360 mu, the scenic area is composed of bonsai, strange stones, root art, and ancient garden architecture, forming a tranquil and harmonious picture of unity between heaven and man.
The Expo Park gathers various plants and over 160 species of precious trees. 36 species of birds, including owls, sparrowhawks, long-tailed blue magpies, red-billed leiothrix, Chinese bulbuls, and hwamei, inhabit here year-round. It displays over 4,000 pieces of bonsai and strange stone works, and more than 2,000 large-scale root art works covering Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, folk myths and legends, and historical events, with the largest weighing over 40 tons. The giant root carving of the Five Hundred Arhats is a world wonder and a unique masterpiece in China. In addition, it showcases root art literature and materials, representative works of root art masters, craft processes, and the Drunken Root culture, serving as a comprehensive encyclopedia of root art, and can be called the world capital of root carving art! It also houses the first batch of ecological environment education demonstration bases in Zhejiang Province, a Chinese poetry creation base, a folk artists' gathering base in Zhejiang Province, a patriotism education base in Kaihua County, a preferred wedding photography spot in Zhejiang Province, a cultural construction demonstration site in Zhejiang Province, and a science popularization education base in Quzhou City.
