       The Tanka people struggled against wind and waves all year round, and their lives were as fragile as eggshells, with no guarantee of safety. As times changed, the Tanka people have moved ashore to live. There are still some villages where hundreds of fishing boats are docked, but most Tanka families no longer rely solely on fishing for a living.

       As time passes, the past becomes a memory. The cultural imprint of the Tanka people is gradually fading from people's view, and those memorable and intoxicating Tanka cultural customs can only remain in cultural and art museums.

       On December 6, 2020, the Shatin Art and Culture Center officially made its debut. Emerging from the beautiful water town, Shatin Town uses the Art and Culture Center as a stage to vigorously promote the three local cultural brands of "Dragon Boat Culture," "Tanka Culture," and "Guancao Culture," and together with Guantong Technology, spreads Tanka culture through intelligent wireless audio and video technology.

Guantong Technology's 720° Panoramic Art Museum creates a three-dimensional picture of the Tanka "water dwellers" for visitors.

       A Tanka girl collects pickled vegetables at the stern of the boat, the mother mends clothes by the window, the father organizes fishing tools at the bow, and the sound of cooking from the neighboring boat drifts into the distance along with the aroma of food.

       Looking into the distance, the Tanka people, returning with a full load, sail back under the afterglow of the setting sun, leaving trails of golden waves on the water... 

       Visitors are immersed in the 720° panoramic view, indulging in the leisurely and carefree life scenes of the Tanka people.

Visitors can follow a guided tour to visit the Art Center, or rent a self-guided audio system to explore the various functional exhibition halls.

       In the Shatin Culture and Arts Center heart, one can see the thatched huts covered with pine bark and straw, the Tanka boats drifting at sea, and farming and fishing tools, listening to the stories behind each item, reproducing the production and living conditions of the Tanka people in Shatin. This allows local residents to regain memories and feel a sense of familiarity, while also giving out-of-town visitors a deeper understanding and awareness of the history, culture, development, and changes of the Tanka people.

       The Shatin Arts and Culture Center is designed with a circular layout, consisting of 11 pointed-roof buildings that enclose a central courtyard. The main facilities include a Lingnan Tanka livelihood exhibition hall, a folk culture exhibition hall, a waterfront platform, a parent-child activity space, a reading space, a small theater, a courtyard rest area, and a multi-functional exhibition hall. Each space is equipped with a Guantek Technology QR code guide. Visitors can use any QR code scanning software on their mobile phones to open and access the guide, and experience the unique charm of Tanka culture in a simple and convenient way, marveling at the earth-shaking changes in Shatin's economic and social development.

       Shatin is a land of fish and rice, with a long history of Tanka culture, guan grass culture, and dragon boat culture. The Shatin Culture and Art Center is a key cultural brand developed by Shatin Town, combining culture with technology.
