Introduction to the Museum Expo:
The "2008 (3rd) Museum and Related Products & Technology Expo" (abbreviated as "Museum Expo") will be held from November 29 to December 1, 2008, at the National Agricultural Exhibition Center in Beijing. This expo is approved by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage and co-hosted by the Chinese Society of Museums, the Chinese Association of Natural Science Museums, and the Beijing Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage, with the China Agricultural Museum as the organizer.
The Museum Expo has been successfully held twice in Beijing in 2004 and 2006, exerting extensive and positive influence in the museum community both at home and abroad. It is the only brand exhibition in China's museum industry today. Held biennially, it is a large-scale comprehensive industry event that focuses on museum-related achievements, technologies, and products, integrating display, exchange, and cooperation! When Mr. Jacques Perot, former President of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), attended the inaugural event, he praised it as "the grandest exhibition of technologies and products in the world museum industry today"!
The main contents of this "Museum Expo" include five aspects: image display and exhibition project exchange of the first batch of national first-class museums and distinctive Chinese and foreign museums, display of museum-related products and technologies, the 2008 Beijing International Museum Directors' Forum, museum-related technology exchange and seminar conferences, and expert treasure appraisal activities. At that time, relevant leaders of the Chinese central government, officials and experts of the International Council of Museums, and heads of Chinese and foreign museums as well as business, tourism, and cultural circles will attend this "Museum Expo." The organizing committee will conduct comprehensive publicity and reporting on this important cultural event of the international museum community through various media.
With the increasing economic power of China, museums are receiving more and more attention from the government and society! In recent years, the Chinese government has continuously increased investment in museum cultural undertakings, and has built or expanded many large museums. At present, the total number of museums of all types nationwide has exceeded 2,300. During the "11th Five-Year Plan" period, the country will also build and expand a large number of museums, science and technology museums, and historical and cultural sites, which provides unprecedented development opportunities for China's museums and related industries!
